CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Economic Work Conference Kicks off in Changsha

On December 24, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Economic Work Conference was held in Changsha.

Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary, delivered a speech at the meeting. He gave a summary report of the economic work in 2020; analyzed the current economic situation; made the plan for the economic work; and, clarified the general requirements, goals, and tasks in 2021.

Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan acting governor, made specific arrangements for next year's economic work and gave a concluding speech.

Wu Lan, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary, presided over the meeting. Provincial leaders Fu Kui, Huang Lanxiang, Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Feng Yi, Zhang Hongsen, Li Dianxun, Yao Laiying, and others attended.

The meeting said that this year is an eventful year. In the face of the complex and profound changes in domestic and international situation, especially the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic and the serious floods rarely seen in Hunan’s history, we have carried forward the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee; coordinated epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development; did a solid job in keeping employment, the financial sector, foreign trade, foreign and domestic investments, and expectations stable; and fully implemented the “six stability” work of guaranteeing employment, people's basic livelihood, market entities, grain and energy security, stability of the industrial and supply chains, and community-level management. The provincial economy is operating steadily and well; the three tough battles against major risks, poverty, and pollution have achieved decisive results; the building of an innovative powerhouse has been solidly promoted; the industries and projects construction have achieved remarkable results; the reform and opening up have made numerous highlights; and, the people’s livelihood has been strongly and effectively protected. Hunan has delivered a satisfactory answer sheet to the CPC and the people.

This year is the closing year of the “13th Five-Year Plan” period. After five years of continuous efforts, Hunan has made major achievements in economic and social development. The main objectives and tasks of the “13th Five-Year Plan” plan are about to be completed. The victory of building a well-off society is in sight, which laid a solid foundation for building a modern new Hunan.

According to the meeting, the following key tasks will be done next year:

1. Focusing on building the “Three Highlands”;

2. Adhering to the strategic basis of expanding domestic demands;

3. Continuing to stimulate the vitality of market entities;

4. Promoting the modernization of agriculture and rural areas;

5. Improving the people's livelihood;

6. Keeping strengthening ecological civilization construction; and,

7. Firmly holding the bottom line of safe development.

The persons in charge of the CPC committees and governments of each city, prefecture, county, county-level city, and district; and those of the management areas, national economic and technological development zones, high-tech industrial development zones, relevant provincial departments, provincial enterprises, some central enterprises and units in Hunan, relevant financial institutions, and universities and colleges, joined the meeting.
