Hunan, Sinopec to Strengthen Government-Enterprise Partnership

Recently, the People’s Government of Hunan Province and the China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) held talks in Beijing. Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, and Zhang Yuzhuo, Sinopec Group chairman and CPC Leadership Group secretary, attended.

Chen Fei, Hunan vice governor, and Ma Yongsheng, Sinopec Group general manager, joined the meeting.

Governor Xu said that, in recent years, Hunan, based on its favorable location on the transitional “belt” connecting the eastern coastal area with the central and western areas, and in the junction “zone” between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt, and location advantages of the central transportation hub, has promoted industries revitalization, led by advanced manufacturing; continued to increase sci-tech innovation and R&D investment; and, kept expanding high-level opening up. It has committed to improving the quality of fiscal and taxation, and the overall development is showing a good momentum of steady progress. Since the beginning of this year, we have calmly dealt with the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic; stabilized the economic fundamentals; and, gone all out to do a good job in ensuring stability on six fronts and security in six areas. In the first half of the year, we achieved better-than-expected development results.

He continued, “Sinopec and Hunan have a sound cooperation foundation. The caprolactam industrial chain relocation project of Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Company is one of the new achievements of provincial-enterprise cooperation. It is an important move for implementing General Secretary Jin Ping’s requirements for strengthening the Yangtze River’s ecological and environmental protection and the new chemical material industrial chain.” He expected both sides would further intensify cooperation between provincial government and enterprises; give priority to ecological and green development, and quality and safety; and, promote high-quality projects to achieve win-win results and bring more benefits to the people.

Chairman Zhang promised that Sinopec Group would build and operate the caprolactam industrial chain relocation project with high standards. Meanwhile, it will continue to increase investment and project layout in Hunan; firmly hold the environmental protection and safety barriers; and, strive to achieve mutual benefits for the province and enterprises.
