Sunflower Show
Duration: late September to late October
A sea of sunflowers, totaling 150,000, planted on a 25,000-sqm square at the Hunan Forest Botanical Garden, is the largest sunflower ‘exhibition’ in urban area.

Lily Flower Show
Duration: late September to late October
The lily flower show is the first one held in the garden. All flowers were planted through anti-season cultivation techniques.
A total of 15 varieties of 16,000 lily flowers were planted, covering an area of 1,000 sqm.

Ornamental Grass Show
Duration: August to October
There are four varieties of ornamental grasses, including pink muhly grass, molasses grass, oriental fountain grass, and African fountain grass.

Sweet-scented Osmanthus Show
Duration: late September to mid-October
The Sweet-scented Osmanthus Park covers 45 mu (3 ha.) and has 15 varieties in milky white, golden yellow, and orange.

Colored Foliage Show
Duration: late October to December
Around National Day Holiday, leaves of some plants turn from green into other colors. A beautiful scenery with gorgeous hues will take shape in November and December.  
Plants with colored foliage include gingko, red maple, Japanese maple, and Weigela florida 'Variegata' (a compact deciduous shrub noted for its handsome variegated foliage and pink flowers).
The main viewing site is around North Gate, including Fengxiang Avenue, Tianjige Scenic Area, Cherry Blossom Lake Scenic Area, Jinqiansong Road, and Shuishan Avenue.

Garden Party
Dates: September 26, October 7, October 17, October 24, and October 31
Venue: World Famous Flower Square and Wisteria Corridor
Activities: concert, DIY handiworks, photography contest, lantern riddle guessing, and charity bazaar.

How to get there:
--Take Bus No. 7, 17, 16, 23, 102, 123, 140, 141, 147, 152, 209, 210, 502, 702, 801, 802, or 806, and get off at Hunan Forest Botanical Garden Station [省植物园站];
--Take Bus No. 16, 370, 602, or 938, and get off at Hunan Forest Botanical Garden North Station [省植物园北站];
--Take metro line 1 and get off at Provincial Government Station [省政府站], then take Bus No. 938 and get off at Hunan Forest Botanical Garden North Station [省植物园北站];
--Take metro line 5 and get off at Bantangchong Station [板塘冲站], then walk to the garden or take Bus No. 16, 370, 602, or 938 and get off at Hunan Forest Botanical Garden North Station [省植物园北站]; or,
--Take Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway and get off at Xiangfu Road Station [湘府路站], then walk to the north gate of the garden.
