The Hunan Department Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently convened an expert meeting to review Chenzhou’s rail transit network plan. The department approved the city’s proposal to use mid-low speed maglev.

Dozens of cities are developing maglev projects. Changsha will build its second maglev line in the Xiangjiang New Area.

“Changsha’s maglev success brings a variety of options for China’s rail transit development and gives direction to the ‘post-high speed railway era’”, said Peng Xufeng, chairman of Hunan Maglev Transportation. The Changsha maglev line provides an impetus to put our pilot into commercial operation, and put Chinese maglev theories and technology into practice.

The Changsha maglev line has attracted the delegations from more than 30 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and 35 foreign countries, such as Singapore, Austria, Germany, Brazil, and South Korea, to study its operation. It is reported that Chengdu, Liupanshui, and Shaoxing cities are engaging in maglev line planning, and Germany and Malaysia proposed cooperation with Changsha in the area of maglev line.

The International Mid-Speed Maglev Transportation Conference will be held in Changsha in 2017. The International Maglev Conference will be held in 2020.
