Changsha Magnetic Levitation Line Starts Trial Operation on May 6

A trial operation of China's first domestically designed and manufactured magnetic levitation line started in Changsha on May 6, 2016. The maglev shuttles between Changsha South Railway Station and Huanghua International Airport. It takes about twenty minutes to complete the 18.55-km journey, according to a statement from operator Hunan Maglev Transport Co. The 48-meter-long train can carry 363 people in three carriages. It can achieve a maximum speed of 100 km per hour.

On the afternoon of May 5, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress Xu Shousheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Governor of Hunan Province Du Jiahao, and Political Commissar of the National University of Defense Technology Wang Jianwei visited expert and constructor representatives, and experienced the trail run. Other provincial leaders Xu Yousheng, Yi Lianhong, and Zhang Jianfei accompanied the visit.
