Second Hunan (Yueyang) Port Economic and Trade Expo Slated for October

The second Hunan (Yueyang) Port Economic and Trade Expo will be held in Yueyang City between October 17 and 22, 2021. On October 8, the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government held a press conference in Changsha City to announce relevant information of the expo.

The expo, themed “prospering port economy and deepening opening-up in the inland region”, includes three major parts: opening ceremony and forum; promotion and project contract signing; and, exhibition and presentation.

The opening ceremony and forum will invite experts in port, logistics, and finance fields to give keynote speeches. They will discuss such hot issues as functional integration of port and pilot free trade zone, and construction of a comprehensive shipping and logistics center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

The port investment promotion conference and major projects signing ceremony will be held during the expo. Hunan’s open economy development, business environment, and industrial conditions of some cities, prefecture, and major industrial parks will be briefed to domestic and foreign merchants, and 540 provincial-level key investment projects developed in 2021 will be promoted. After preliminary matchmaking event, there will be 37 projects signed at the promotion conference, with a total investment of 23.396 billion yuan. Among them, there are 4 projects each valued more than 1 billion yuan; 3 projects of Fortune Global 500 companies, top 500 Chinese enterprises, and China’s top 500 private enterprises; and, 7 ones related to the pilot free trade zone and the port area.

The total exhibition area is 10,000 square meters. There are 4 exhibition areas: the Hunan Port Image Exhibition Area; International Import and Export High-quality Commodity Exhibition Area; Port Commodity Exhibition Area; and, Famous and Special Commodity Exhibition Area. There are 320 standard booths to be set up in the International Import and Export High-quality Commodity Exhibition Area; Port Commodity Exhibition Area; and, Famous and Special Commodity Exhibition Area. They will display more than 3,800 kinds of commodities from Russia, France, Malaysia, Thailand, and other countries and regions, as well as some provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities within China.

Compared with the first session, the expo pays more attention to the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and sets up parallel-import and domestic automobile exhibition area, and agarwood crafts exhibition area. At present, a total of 33 government’s economic and trade delegations and more than 90 key corporate delegations have signed up to participate in the expo.
