Xiang embroidery is a symbol of Hunan culture. The Hunan Xiang Embroidery Museum, originally built in 1999, is a professional museum displaying Xiang embroidery history and techniques. It reopened after renovation and a trial operation. The new museum covers nearly 2,000 square meters. Themed “splendid Hunan in embroidery”, it presents evolutions, exquisite crafts, and innovations of Xiang embroidery. It also combines Xiang embroidery culture and history with features of the new era, to highlight the significant contributions of Xiang embroidery to education, science and technology, and culture sectors, and present cultural inheritance and development.

A Hunan arts and crafts masterpiece exhibition opened at the new museum. The theme was “Splendid Hunan in New Era”. Nearly 300 revolutionary themed arts and crafts works as well as local representative works in 10 categories from around the province are on display.
A series of activities will be organized, such as teenager embroidery study tours, Xiang embroidery intangible cultural heritage study tours, exhibitions, and performances.
