Hunan Establishes First “5G Plus Industrial Internet” Pilot Zone

The Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province recently approved the establishment of Hunan’s first “5G Plus Industrial Internet” pilot zone. Based on the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, it was committed to carrying out 5G-based network transformation inside and outside factories, and accelerating the promotion and application of industrial Internet in advantageous industrial clusters.

According to the plan, the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone will carry out a series of pilot trials in Hunan Province around the “5G + Industrial Internet”. By 2022, it will have constructed 5 national-level and 10 provincial-level application projects; created 70 practical application scenarios and 2 or more public service platforms; cultivated no less than 20 local emerging technology service providers; and, formulated at least 4 industrial or national standards.

The person in charge of the department introduced that, Hunan’s first "5G Plus Industrial Internet" pilot zone will also establish a cross-regional industrial Internet data resource cooperation and sharing mechanism, and build a supporting industrial big data display center. This was to realize data collection, aggregation, application, and sharing of key areas, industries, and enterprises of the park, and form an integrated service capability with reasonable layout and smooth connections.
