The Unveiling Ceremony and Constructing Mobilization Conference of the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone Yueyang sub-area was held in Chenglingji New Port Area on the morning of September 24. Leaders of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and Yueyang Municipal People’s Government unveiled the nameplate of the sub-area.
Sixteen projects were signed on site, with a total investment of 22.2 billion yuan. Of the total, there was one over 10-billion-yuan project, two over 5-bilion-yuan projects, one over 1-billion-yuan project, two projects invested by Fortune Global 500 companies, a project funded by a Chinese top 500 private enterprise, and a project invested by a listed company. The output value of all the projects combined will exceed 50 billion yuan, and the tax revenue will exceed 3 billion yuan. The projects involve strategic emerging industries such as electronic information, new materials, and intelligent manufacturing; and, new types of business including finance, cross-border e-commerce, and platform services. With a strong brand effect and a far-reaching social impact, these projects will inject strong impetus into the development of Yueyang sub-area.
Chenglingji New Port Area, where Yueyang sub-area is located, is an important support to Hunan’s geographical advantages as a transitional zone from China’s eastern coast to its center and west, and the joint zone between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the coastal economic belt. The area is also a connection point between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and a demonstration zone for implementing “Belt and Road” initiative and the strategies of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the “Rise of central China”.
Chenglingji is a gateway to the east for deepening opening-up to the outside world. It is the only one in central China having six national open platforms, namely, Chenglingjie Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Chenglingji Export Rebate Departure Port, Finished Vehicle Import Port, Designated Port for Imported Meat, Designated Port for Imported Gain, and Designated Port for Imported Solid Waste. Chenglingji New Port Area is home to China (Yueyang) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone, National City-Industry Integration Demonstration Zone, and National Logistics Hub.
The Yueyang sub-area will firmly uphold its strategic positioning to support the building of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. It will integrate into the national strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and give priority to port economy, so as to build Yueyang into a comprehensive shipping logistics center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and an inland port economic demonstration zone. Priorities will be given to the development three major industries of shipping logistics, e-commerce, and new generation of information technology.
