Hunan Confident about Fulfilling Annual Goals

On March 25, the Hunan Provincial People’s Government Information Office held the 6th press conference on coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. Persons in charge of the Hunan Development and Reform Commission, Hunan Health Commission, Hunan Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Hunan Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Hunan Department of Commerce introduced latest progress, achievements and plan, and answered questions. Qing Lixin, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Information Office, presided over the press conference.

Hunan has reported no new confirmed COVID-19 cases for 25 consecutive days. As of March 14, all patients had been discharged from hospitals. No imported cases had been reported.

Hunan’s economy withstood the impact of the epidemic, and was resumed in a stable and orderly way. The firm confidence in achieving the annual goals never changed. As of March 24, 15,927 enterprises over designated size had resumed production (a resumption rate of 98.9%), and 95.5% workers had returned to their posts. All of the 173 key provincial projects under construction and 3,668 municipal and prefectural key projects had fully resumed construction. All of the important foreign trade enterprises had resumed operation. In the first two months this year, Hunan’s imports and exports with the “Belt and Road” countries increased by 1.74%; and, paid-in investment reached 139.8 billion CNY, up 12.6% over last year. Early rice have been planted in more than 2.8 million mu (about 188.294 hectares) paddies, 94.1% of the total.

Hunan took the lead in the country to roll out ten measures to facilitate college graduates to get employed or start business amid the epidemic. More than half of the new jobs in the state-owned enterprises under provincial administration were suggested to offer to 2020's new graduates.
