On February 27 afternoon, Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor held talks in Changsha with the Hunan Work Steering Group under the State Council's joint prevention and control mechanism for the COVID-19 epidemic. They exchanged views on epidemic prevention and control work in the next step.

During the talks, Governor Xu thanked the State Council Steering Group for their guidance and assistance to Hunan. He said, since the epidemic outbreak, Hunan has been resolutely implementing President Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions; and the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. Hunan has taken the initiative to shoulder responsibilities and taken positive actions. Hunan has timely activated the highest-level emergency response, timely increased the intensity of treatment; timely applied big data to conduct analysis, screening and investigation; timely organized the production and supply of medical protective materials; and timely promoted the in-depth intervention of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the diagnosis and treatment process. The positive trend of Hunan’s epidemic prevention and control is expanding.

At present, Hunan is coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. It has adopted a precise approach on epidemic prevention and control when advancing resumption of work and production in different regions based on local epidemic risks and situation, striving to achieve this year's economic and social development goals and tasks, especially the key tasks of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and fighting against poverty. Hunan will execute the State Council Steering Group’s opinions into practical results, and continue to work hard to win the battle against the epidemic while maintaining economic and social development.

The State Council Steering Group said that, the task of epidemic prevention and control in Hunan, a neighboring province of Hubei, is arduous.

Faced with the grim situation, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government have resolutely implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee. Through strong organization and leadership, comprehensive and systematic deployment and mobilization, and scientific and targeted prevention and control measures, Hunan has initiated a series of good experiences and practices, which have achieved very good results in monitoring the trend of the epidemic situation; giving full play to medical advantages to improve the cure rate; steadily and orderly advancing the resumption of work and production; and providing pairing-up support for Huanggang in Hubei.

It is hoped that Hunan will continue to follow the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to improve the professionalism and precision of prevention and control work to prevent the epidemic from rebounding. It is hoped that the good epidemic prevention and control practices and experiences will be upgraded to a long-term mechanism for public health emergencies.
