Little New Year (Chinese: Xiaonian), usually a week before the lunar New Year, falls on January 18 in southern China this year. It is also known as the Festival of the Kitchen God, the deity who oversees the moral character of each household. The CPC Guangzhou Railway Group Changsha Passenger Transportation No. 2 EMU Fleet Committee and the Guangzhou Railway Calligraphers Association members carried out activities to send Chinese character “fu” (“blessing” in English) and Spring Festival couplets to passengers on the train G636. This added New Year atmosphere and conveyed blessings, and gave passengers an increasingly better ride experience during the Spring Festival.
