The Hunan Industry and Information Technology Department announced on January 5 that Hunan will have 20 5G demonstration application scenarios and 10 “5G+industrial internet” typical usage scenarios in 2020. The province will facilitate construction of a world-class, 5G-based, video center and promote construction of a Huawei, ultra-high definition video content production and sharing cloud platform.

Since the beginning of 2019, the department has released five action plans for big data, artificial intelligence, ultra-high definition video, industrial internet app, and 5G application innovation.

The department and the Hunan Communications Administration formulated a Three-Year Action Plan on 5G Application Innovation and Development in Hunan (2019-2021). It specified that a 5G application industrial chain will be formed with the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city cluster, Yuelu Mountain National University Science and Technology Town, and Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park as the lead and typical vertical industries as the focus. A number of replicable and scalable examples will be established in the fields of industrial internet, autonomous driving, ultra-high definition video, network security, health care, smart city, smart broadcasting and TV, digital countryside, and ecological environmental protection. By 2021, the output value of Hunan’s 5G related industries should exceed 100 billion CNY, generating a digital economy of 400 billion CNY.
