On July 9, the Standing Committee of the CPC Provincial Committee deliberated and approved the list of 10 towns with distinct industries. So far there are 60 provincial-level towns with distinct industries in Hunan.

The 10 newly added towns include:
- Aviation Town in Lusong District, Zhuzhou City;
- Leather Goods and Bags Town in Lanshan County, Yongzhou City;
- Machinery Manufacturing Town in Changsha County, Changsha City;
- Shazhou Cultural Tourism Town in Shazhou County, Chenzhou City;
- Dongping Cultural Tourism Town in Anhua County, Yiyang City;
- Nanyue Cultural Tourism Town in Nanyue District, Hengyang City;

- Seed Industry Town in Changsha County, Changsha City;
- Bamboo Industry Town in Taojiang County, Yiyang City; and,
- Zhangshugang Chili Town, Xiangyin County, Yueyang City.

Hunan Province initiated the construction of towns with distinct industries in 2018. Later a number of small towns with strong industries, competent functions, and beautiful appearances were built. By 2020, there were 50 towns recognized by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, including 15 industrial towns, 15 agricultural towns, and 20 cultural tourism towns. Anhua dark tea, Jingzhou waxberry, Langshan navel orange, and Huarong leaf mustard won the title of “national geographical indication product”. The domestic market share of special products in Linxiang Buoy Town exceeds 80%; the output of fireworks in Liuyang Fireworks Town accounts for 70% of the global total; and the domestic market share of special products in Shaodong Hardware Town reaches 54%.

In 2020, the total output value of the 50 towns with distinct industries exceeded 160 billion yuan, with a tax revenue of more than 3.5 billion yuan. This helped create nearly 600,000 jobs.

These towns have become cash cow brands in Hunan’s county economy with obvious economic benefits to enrich the people.
