Hunan Mobile Internet Industry Exceeds 160 Bln Yuan in 2020

The revenue of Hunan’s mobile internet industry hit 161.8 billion CNY in 2020, an increase of 22% over 2019, according to the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology. A solid and rapid growth has been seen in the sector for 7 consecutive years, making it a new drive for Hunan’s high-quality development.

New digital infrastructure construction takes the lead in China. The system developed by the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha ranked 9th on the international AI performance ranking AIPerf 500. Hunan’s root mirror serve and national top-tier DNS nodes will speed up internet response in Hunan, even southern China. Hunan is to be an important information hub.

Information infrastructure construction accelerated. There are 29,000 5G base stations around Hunan, making 5G service accessible in the urban areas of 13 cities and 1 prefecture. Hunan ranks among top 10 in China in terms of support to 5G construction. 4G is available in all administrative and 95% natural villages. 5G is applicable in broader aspects, such as industrial internet, intelligent manufacturing, AI, and safe production.

“Bring-in” projects made fruitful achievements. A number of key projects settled in Hunan, such as CSDN headquarter, Wondershare headquarter, Pactera regional headquarter, JD Cloud & AI, and Han's SMC. By the end of 2020, over 50 well-known software and internet enterprises had established headquarters, or regional headquarters, in Hunan. Mobile internet application have been broadened. Software technology empowered manufacturing. There are more than 18,200 industrial Apps, increasing by 69% year on year. 

Information technological innovation grew into Hunan’s representative industry. A whole cybersecurity industrial chain has been formed, covering basic software and hardware, personal computer and terminal, internet applications, and cybersecurity service. There are 196 cybersecurity companies in Changsha, with a total output value increasing by 40% to 14 billion CNY in 2020.
