According to the Changsha Customs, from January to October 2020, Hunan’s total value of imports and exports reached 379.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. Exports were 253.34 billion yuan, an increase of 0.7%; and imports were 126.31 billion yuan, an increase of 21.5%.
In October, both imports and exports recorded positive growth. The total value of imports and exports was 43.73 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%. Exports were 30.75 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2%; and imports were 12.98 billion yuan, an increase of 14%.
ASEAN is Hunan’s biggest trading partner. From January to October, the trade volume between Hunan and ASEAN countries was 65.38 billion yuan, an increase of 35.3%. Private enterprises enjoyed strong performance in foreign trade, with their imports and exports standing at 294.58 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4%. The volume accounted for 77.6% of the provincial total from January to October.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products have maintained growth. From January to October, Hunan exported 113.49 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 5%, accounting for 44.8% of Hunan's total value of exports during the same period; exports of high-tech products were 35.24 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%.
Imports of mechanical and electrical products, high-tech products, and bulk commodities maintained growth. From January to October, Hunan imported 52.76 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 16.8%; and imports of high-tech products were 35.29 billion yuan, an increase of 38.8%, accounting for 27.9%.
