Changsha Ranks 6th Nationwide in Internet Development

On the occasion of the upcoming 2020 Internet Yuelu Summit, the 2020 Changsha Internet Development White Paper was issued by the Changsha Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, the Changsha Mobile Internet and Internet Application Industrial Chain Promotion Office, and the Euronet Alliance Technology Co., Ltd. Changsha ranks sixth nationwide, and first in central China, in the updated ranking of Chinese City Internet Development Index.

The internet development index is based on five aspects – industrial foundation; industrial innovation; digitalization; regional attraction; and, new eco-development. Changsha ranks 10th in industrial foundation; 6th in industrial innovation; 6th in digitalization; 8th in regional attraction; and, 7th in new eco-development. As for a new index of detailed internet development, Changsha is among the top 10 in terms of economical transportation, internet influence, and new eco-consumption.

Changsha leads Hunan in mobile internet development, and is a new highland for internet innovation. Taking internet as a new economic growth driver, Changsha has made technological breakthroughs in AI, information and communication, Internet of Things, to give impetus to the development of big data, cloud computing, blockchain, and 5G industries. It has also, based on industrial internet platforms, elevated industrial integrated development, and fostered new economic growth points.

As of May 2020, Changsha has 31,201 enterprises of information transmission, software, and information technology, which take up 40% of the total number of the internet enterprises in Hunan, and 2,098 more than 2019.

An internet industrial pattern has taken shape, with the Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone as the core, and extending to the five administrative districts (Yuelu, Tianxin, Kaifu, Furong, and Yuhua). The Hi-tech zone, as one of China’s first batch of its kind, has attracted a number of internet enterprises. In the 2019 national hi-tech zone assessment, the Changsha Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone ranked 11th among the 169 candidates nationwide.
