It was learned from Yongzhou Customs on March 15 that, the city, despite the adverse effects of COVID-19 epidemic, completed a total import and export value of 1.44 billion CNY in the first two months of 2020. This was an increase of 5% year on year and the growth rate entered the fifth place in Hunan. Yongzhou’s foreign trade achieved “a good start”.

Yongzhou is an agricultural powerhouse and its agricultural products have become the pillar export goods. Between January and February, the city completed exports of 1.36 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. Among them, 46,000 tons of vegetables were exported with a value of 320 million CNY, accounting for 95.6% of the provincial total; and 24,000 tons of vegetables were supplied to Hong Kong, a year-on-year increase of 24.9 times and worth of 150 million CNY. Moreover, 1,320 live pigs were exported, which was the only source of live pigs supplied to Hong Kong during the epidemic prevention and control period.

Yongzhou government and enterprises have collaborated to turn crisis into opportunity, and persisted in fighting against the epidemic and stabilizing production. Presently, 90% of the city’s production-based foreign trade enterprises have resumed work. The Yongzhou Customs has implemented the higher-level requirements for “epidemic prevention, production resumption, and foreign trade protection”, and opened up green channels for administrative approval and port inspection and clearance, in an effort to ensure the smooth import and export services for enterprises.
