The China-Brazil Agricultural Technology Industrial Park project was contracted at the conference hall of the Municipal Government of Paracatu in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on May 13 Beijing time. The project will encourage Chinese seed enterprises to collaborate with and support each other in developing the South American market, and strive to construct the largest corn and soybean seed research and development center and supply cluster in South America.

The project agreement was originally scheduled to be inked in 2020, but suspended due to the pandemic. Under the guidance of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and the Hunan Department of Commerce, the industrial park has achieved smooth construction progress and good operation performance in spite of the pandemic. The Brazilian government spoke highly of the project and signed the cooperation agreement.

The industrial park is wholly China-owned, and co-constructed by the Yuan Longping High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary in Brazil. So far, it has two seed processing factories and 10 R&D centers. Since 2021, it has started expansion of two seed processing factories and three seed refrigeration houses, which will be put into operation in the second half of this year. Some Chinese universities and enterprises, and international organizations have settled in the park, such as the soybean breeding base of the South China Agricultural University in Brazil, and the China-Latin America Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance.

The Yuan Longping High-tech Agriculture Co., Ltd. has deployed research and commercial layout in some countries, including Brazil, U.S.A, and Argentina. It is committed to the cutting-edge solutions regarding seed resource innovation, bio-technology development, plant pathology, production informatization, and digitalized development. Its subsidiary in Brazil is the third largest corn seed company in the country. It supplies corn seeds for more than 6,000 mu (over 400 ha.) of corn plantations in Brazil, occupying more than 20% of Brazilian market share.
