South and West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Area Construction Starts

The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province held a work promotion conference on November 21, 2018. It announced the official opening of the South and West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Area establishment. “The area construction should be basically completed in 2025 and completely accomplished in 2035, attracting more than 150 global Fortune 500 enterprises to locate,” it said.
 
The National Development and Reform Commission approved establishing the South and West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Area a few days ago. The southern Hunan includes Hengyang, Zhangzhou, and Yongzhou Cities. It is a major area for the central and western regions to undertake industrial transfer from the eastern coastal areas, especially the Pearl River Delta region. Since the establishment of the South Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Zone in 2011, its scale, industrial level, and development quality have been continuously improved. It has played an active leading demonstration role. The western Hunan area adjacent to the south covers Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Huaihua City and Shaoyang City. It has the unique advantages and good foundation for undertaking industrial transfer. In 2017, the total GDP of the demonstration area reached 1.1 trillion CNY. There are 66 industrial parks at provincial or above level being built in the area, including 4 national development zones.
 
It was learned that the key industries of the South and West Hunan Industrial Transfer Demonstration Area are:
-Processing trade;
-Equipment manufacturing;
-New materials;
-Biomedicine;
-New generation information technology;
-Light and textile industry;
-Deep processing of agricultural products and food production;
-Mineral development;
-Modern logistics;
-Health and pension industry;
-Cultural tourism; and,
-Modern agriculture.
