The Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government held a press conference for the first International Summit on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) Applications on September 8, 2021. It announced that the summit will be held in Changsha from September 16 to 17. Hunan Vice Governor Chen Fei attended.

The theme of the summit is “BDS Serves the World, Application Fuels the Future”. The summit will be co-hosted by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the China Satellite Navigation System Committee, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. Representatives from relevant departments, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Sciences, experts and scholars, as well as representatives from international organizations, and foreign government departments and enterprises, will gather in Changsha to jointly bolster the high-quality development of BDS large-scale application.

The summit will have a main forum, several sub-forums and a BDS achievements exhibition. Government, industry, university, research institute and user representatives will discuss the new future of BDS industry’s large-scale development. The exhibition will display the BDS application achievements in key fields of strategic industries, special industries, regional applications and mass consumption applications, and show the latest achievements in global application and promotion, aiming to look ahead to the prospects for the BDS application in all walks of life and in various fields in the future.

The summit is China's first major international event featuring BDS large-scale application. Satellite navigation experts and scholars from around the world will be invited to the summit, to take a broad view of the development trends of satellite navigation systems around the world, and promote international exchanges and cooperation. This will help BDS to enhance its compatibility and interoperability with other satellite navigation systems around the world, so as to provide global users with higher performance, and more reliable and richer services.
