The Xinmin Institute former site, also residence of Chinese revolutionist Cai Hesen, is located in Xinmin Road, Yingwanzhen, Changsha. In 1918, Mao Zedong and Cai Hesen led a group of pioneering youths to found the Xinmin Institute. The founding ceremony was held on April 14 that year at this site.
It was listed as a culture relic protection site under the provincial protection in 1983, and restored in 1987. The main building is a farmhouse of Qing Dynasty style, covering an area of 5,000 sqm. It is a patriotism education base and scenic spot integrating cultural and natural landscape.
