The 2019 National Public Transport Promotion Week is marked between September 16 and 22. On September 16, the Hunan Public Transport Promotion Week activities kicked off in Changde City. It announced that as of the end of 2018, there were 23,306 new energy buses in Hunan, accounting for 77.54% of the total number of public buses and electric buses, and ranking first nationwide.
According to the Hunan Provincial Department of Transportation (HPDT), the national “Traffic Card” service will cover Hunan’s 122 counties, cities, and districts before the National Day this year.
In order to further implement the bus priority development strategy and advocate green, safe, and civilized travel, the Chinese Ministry of Transport and other related departments designated September as the National Green Travel Promotion Month, and the period from September 16 to 22 as the National Public Transport Promotion Week.
HPDT Director Liu Mingjin introduced that in recent years, Hunan has increased its investment in “green travel”, and took the lead nationwide in promoting the national “Traffic Card” application and public new energy vehicles in urban areas. The number of new energy buses in Hunan ranked fifth, and the proportion ranked first in China.
The national “Traffic Card” now has been available in most of the counties and cities in Hunan. The card with a “China T-union” logo can be used in Hunan’s transport-connected buses and Changsha subways, or in other connected Chinese cities.
