Hunan Governor Meets with Guests Attending Investing in Africa Forum

On the afternoon of September 5th, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Governor of Hunan Province Xu Dazhe met in Changsha with Hafez Ghanem, vice president of Africa Region of the World Bank.

On the afternoon of September 5th, Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe respectively met with Africa Region Vice President of the World Bank Hafez Ghanem and Vice Minister of Finance Zou Jiayi. They came to Changsha to attend the 4th Investing in Africa Forum.
 
Governor Xu firstly gave a warm welcome to all the guests. He then thanked the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance for their long-term concern and support for Hunan, and introduced Hunan’s economic and social development and Hunan-African cooperation. He said that as a province with strong agricultural, manufacturing, scientific and educational industries, Hunan bears comparatively strong strength and advantages in the fields of modern seed industry, engineering machinery, equipment manufacturing, energy conservation, environmental protection, and medical and health care. He hoped that the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance would continue to help the province to talk about “its own Story” on the basis of their successful cooperation with Hunan in the past. More supports are expected as follows: 
1. Pushing forward the implementation of projects;
2. Introducing global advanced experience and technology;
3. Cultivating international versatile talents; and,
4. Enhancing foreign economic and trade development, multilateral international financial organization cooperation and custom duty and tax.
 
Hunan will speed up the pace of promoting Hunan’s advantageous industries to “going global” and contribute to building a closer China-African community of shared future in the new era.
 
Ghanem said that the World Bank expects to deepen the cooperation with Hunan in the fields of projects, intelligence, and funds. He also hoped that during the forum, representatives of Hunan and Africa would enhance consensus and strengthen their exchanges. They will provide a boon to the economic development, higher employment rate, and technological progress of Africa. And a win-win situation is expected to be achieved.
 
Zou Jiayi said that the Ministry of Finance was willing to give full play to its capital and intellectual advantages to support Hunan in:
1. Promoting the construction of ecological environment by means of international loans;
2. Improving the modernization of the governance system and governance capacity; and,
3. Creating a creative, open and new highland of inland.
 
Secretary-general of Hunan Province Wang Qun also attended the meeting.
