Couples Dressed in Traditional Costumes Experience Skywalk
Women Dressed in Hanfu Celebrate Qixi Festival

On August 27, Hunan Embroidery Research Institute Hunan embroidery amateurs dressed in Han-style costumes or Hanfu celebrated the Qixi Festival at Du Fu Pavilion. They tossed an embroidered ball as a traditional courtship ritual, and experienced needlework.

About Chinese Valentine's Day

The Double Seventh Festival (Qixi Festival) is one of Chinese traditional festivals, and also known as a Chinese Valentine's Day. It falls on the seventh day of the seventh Chinese lunar month.


Chinese girls prepare fruits, melons and incense as offerings to Zhi Nu, the weaving maiden, praying to acquire high skills in needlecraft, as well as hoping to find satisfactory husbands.

Romantic Legend

The Chinese people believe that the star Vega (织女星), east of the Milky Way, is Zhi Nu and, at the constellation of Aquila (天鹰座), on the western side of the Milky Way, Niu Lang waits for his wife.
