Zhang’s profile
- Director of the department of pediatrics in the First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine
- Receiving over 60,000 patients every year

Born in a family of traditional Chinese medicine, Zhang Di was inspired by his father, a prestigious doctor in Changsha. In 1995, he entered the department of pediatrics as an outstanding graduate.

Zhang devotes himself to curing patients, shouldering huge workload and pressure. The outpatients he received every year exceed 60,000, among which tens of thousands are children.

In March 2015, a young woman from Loudi, Hunan, went to see Doctor Zhang. Her two-year-old son had suffered from diabetes and epilepsy. Zhang attentively inquired the woman about her pregnancy and delivery situations, family inheritance, and symptoms of the child, and accordingly gave diagnosis. After customized treatment, the child’s emotional disorder was totally cured, and the onset of epilepsy occurring once a week before treatment, never happened. The child’s family thanked a million for Doctor Zhang’s medical skill as well as his medical ethics, “What a patient, serious-minded, and kind-hearted doctor he is! It’s hard to believe that it only takes several yuan for each dose of my kid’s medicine!”

As a prestigious doctor, Zhang is widely recognized for his experienced and skillful medical treatment, and also his medical ethics. He always tries to cure patients in as short period as he can, with minimized injury to patients and lowest treatment costs. He almost never refused helpless patients, especially those from far away but could not get access. “Bring your child to see me. I won’t be off duty until seeing your child,” he said.

As a graduate supervisor, Zhang sticks to teaching students while improving himself through study, in spite of his extremely tight working schedule. His persistence in work and heartfelt cares for patients sets a good example to his students.

“I just fulfill my responsibility”, said Zhang. He, taking himself as an ordinary doctor, practices the guidelines of the state’s reform of the medical system, to do his best to keep offering his patients proper and affordable treatment.
