Changsha Held the First Japan Festival
The Japanese ikebana performance wins the favors of Changsha citizens.

On November 21, the First Japan Festival was held in the central square of Pedestrian Street of Huangxing Road, enabling Changsha citizens to appreciate Japanese culture at their doorstep.

As an important part of the activities of Hunan Japan-Week, the Japan Festival aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between Changsha and Japan in terms of culture, education, economy and so on by hosting a series of China-Japan cultural exchanges. During the festival, a wide range of activities will be held including ikebana performance, band and musical instrument performance, interviews of cartoonists, contest on Japanese knowledge, etc.

Changsha City enjoys constant exchanges and extensive cooperation with Japan. In 1982, Changsha and Kagoshima forged sister city relationship. In the past 27 years, fruitful exchanges and cooperation have been reaped in the fields of personnel training, trade, tourism, culture, education and sports. With the focus of trade

contracts on local specialties, Chinese traditional patent medicine, honey, and the trade volume amounting to millions of dollars every year. Up to the end of October 2009, 72 Japanese enterprises have invested in Changsha, making a total investment of 296 million dollars.
"Two-Oriented Society" Construction Seminar
& China-Japan Cooperation Symposium Held in Changsha
On the morning of November 21, one of the theme activities of "2009 China (Hunan)-Japan Week", "Two-Oriented Society" Construction Seminar & China-Japan Cooperation Symposium were held in Changsha. Miyamoto Yuji, Japanese Embassy to China, and Liu Lianyu, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Hunan People's Congress attended the seminar and made speeches respectively.

Miyamoto Yuji stated that this seminar provides new platform and opportunities for the exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Japan in the construction of "the Two-Oriented Society" and so on. He hoped China and Japan should make concerted efforts to improve the investment environment, strengthen
technological cooperation, and enhance exchanges and dialogues in order to push forward the friendly relations between the two countries. Liu Lianyu pointed out that Japan has created models and experience in environmental improvement and resources conservation for the whole world, which deserve to be followed and thought over.

The seminar had attracted over ten Japanese enterprises including Mitsui, Hitachi, Panasonic, NEC, Daikin Industries and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and many renowned Hunan-based companies such as Sany, Zoomlion, Broad Air Conditioning, Changfeng Motor and Sunward Intelligence, among others.
