The first shield tunneling machine was lowered-down into the cave at Hanwangling Park Station, and started drilling ground along the Xiangjiang River west bank section of Changsha Metro Line 4 on the morning of June 25, 2016. The machine is tunneling towards Xiangjiang New Town Station direction at a speed of 10 meters per day, marking the official tunneling of the west bank section of Changsha Metro Line 4.
It was learnt that Changsha Metro Line 4 PhaseⅠlinks Guanziling Station in the north and Fubuhe Station in the south. There will be 12 stations constructed along the 18.3 km-long metro line (PhaseⅠ).
Changsha Metro Line 4 PhaseⅠstarted in the end of 2014 and was scheduled to open to traffic in 2019. It will be a trunk line linking northwestern and southeastern Changsha, including Gaotangling-Xincheng town cluster, urban districts, and Huanghua (Langmuli) town cluster after completion. Covering traffic corridors on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River and leading the city to extend to northwestwards and southeastwards, it will greatly improve the rail transit transportation network of the city.
