The 2019 Changsha Media Arts Festival and the International Youth Forum (IYF): Creativity and Heritage Along the Silk Roads will be held between March 31 and April 3 in Changsha.
The activity aims to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply to the youth representatives attending the 2018 IYF: Creativity and Heritage Along the Silk Roads; follow the national “Belt and Road” Initiative and the cultural “going global” strategy; display Changsha’s achievements in media arts and cultural creative industry; and strengthen Changsha’s exchanges and cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road”.
The activity will be hosted by UNESCO; the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations; the China National Commission for UNESCO; the Changsha Municipal People’s Government; and the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government.
The attendees will include officials from UNESCO, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Education, and the China National Commission for UNESCO; ambassadors of Caribbean countries; the UNESCO Creative Cities Network member cities’ representatives; UN SDG youth leaders; the “Belt and Road” countries’ youth representatives, and youth volunteers.
Participants will discuss topics like “Youth Innovation and Creativity in the Media Arts Era”, and “Media Arts, Creativity, Integration, and Cultural Heritage Protection”.
They will also attend activities, including the Chinese and foreign youth gathering, Changsha field visits, and the “Experience Changsha Media Arts Program”. These activities will help bring Changsha closer to the world, and promote its internationalization.
A media arts show will be staged in Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town, Changsha on the evening of March 31. The show will adopt international languages and multimedia arts techniques to tell the stories about Changsha, outline the impressions of Changsha, and show the essence of Changsha’s media arts.
