Hunan, COSCO Group Enhance Strategic Cooperation

Hunan Government and China COSCO Shipping Group (CCSG) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Shanghai on January 2, 2019. CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary, Du Jiahao, and CCSG President, Xu Lirong, witnessed the signing of the agreement.
China COSCO Shipping Group, a giant, state-owned, enterprise directly managed by the central government, is restructured by COSCO and the China Shipping Group Corporation. Currently, the group leads the world in terms of comprehensive container ship capacity, dry bulk cargo fleets, tanker fleets, grocery special fleets, container terminal throughput and crew management.
According to the agreement, the parties will give full play to their respective advantages to achieve three goals:
1.Deepen cooperation in such fields as shipping; logistics; equipment manufacturing; shipping finance and services, and poverty alleviation through employment under the framework of the “Belt and Zone” strategy; 
2.Accelerate Hunan's modern shipping and support services and manufacturing industries, so as to become a center of comprehensive, three-dimensional transportation, modern shipping services, multi-modal transport, intelligent logistics and port industrial aggregation in the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Central China; and,
3.Jointly implement the Yangtze River Economic Belt Strategy, and improve participation in implementing the “Belt and Road” initiative.
Before the signing ceremony, Du visited the group’s exhibition hall to learn about its history, business sectors and market development.
