A training course for Lao local senior government officials opened in Hunan University on October 10. CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary Wu Lan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Wu welcomed the Lao guests and congratulated on the opening of the course. She introduced Hunan’s economic and social development, especially that during the past 40 years of the reform and opening-up; and, Hunan’s history, culture, agriculture, and tourism resources.
China and Laos are close socialist neighbors. Hunan, hometown of great socialists including Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi, has kept friendly ties with Laos for long, she added. In recent years, Chinese and Lao governments reached a consensus on working together to build a community of shared future. In line with the consensus, Hunan and Laos have developed closer relations, and expanded bilateral cooperation. General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachit visited Hunan during his stay in China this June. His visit brought new opportunities for deepening Hunan-Laos exchange and cooperation, and building a China-Laos community of shared future.
Wu said that the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee pays high attention to the training course as a substantial measure for practicing the consensus, and promoting Hunan-Laos relationship and common development. She hoped the Chinese and Lao participants will have in-depth communication to make fruitful results and progress. She believed that through this training course, Hunan-Laos friendship will be further consolidated.
The theme of the training course is “tourism-driven development”. Several topics will be discussed, including reform, economy, culture, science and technology, and targeted poverty alleviation. Nineteen Lao local government officials from Lao capital Vientiane, and Oudomxay province, attended.
