Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe led a delegation to visit Nigeria between June 27 and 29, 2018 (local time). During his stay, he met with Nigerian Agriculture and Rural Development Chief Audu Ogbeh, Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and Kano State Acting Governor Hafiz Abubakar, and signed letters of intent with Kano and Jigawa states respectively.

 

Governor Xu said that it’s important to implement the “Belt and Road” initiative based on national requirements, advance Hunan-Nigeria cooperation with the leading-edge science and technology as the basis, and promote Hunan-Nigeria industrial and agricultural partnership based on the need of the African market. We should increase match points, seek profitable points, and clarify risk points, to create a China-Nigeria local cooperation model, he added.

 

Xu Dazhe also paid a visit to Ambassador of China to Nigeria Zhou Pingjian, and inspected the Lee Group in Nigeria and the CGCOC Agricultural High-Tech Industrial Park in Abuja. He witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Lee Group in Nigeria.

 

Hunan Provincial People’s Government Secretary General Wang Qun, and heads of relevant departments of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government accompanied him on the tour.

On June 26, Governor Xu Dazhe and his delegation have a discussion with Oromia Region Vice Governor. Both sides also ink an agreement.

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe led a delegation to visit Ethiopia between June 23 and 26, 2018 (local time). They met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and attended a series of Hunan-Ethiopia communication and cooperation activities.

 

On the afternoon of June 25, Governor Xu met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. He introduced the economic and social development of Hunan Province. He said that the visit was to fully implement the “Belt and Road” initiative and the already-inked Hunan-Ethiopia cooperation agreements, to consolidate and enhance mutual friendship. Hunan is willing to share its development experience with Ethiopia, expand economic and trade cooperation between Hunan and Ethiopia, encourage Hunan enterprises to invest in Ethiopia, and introduce excessive yet high-quality production capacity to Africa, he added.

 

Ethiopian PM expected Hunan to help improve his country’s development quality in such fields as agriculture and industry. He remarked that close personnel exchanges between both sides through various cultural exchanges and other activities would achieve win-win results.

 

On June 23 and 24, the Hunan delegation also paid a visit to the Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia, and inspected the “Ethiopian-Hunan Industrial Park” project, the second phase of the Adama Wind Power project undertaken by Sany Group, and the CGCOC HANSON Glass Factory. Xu encouraged the workers to contribute their efforts to promoting the cooperation between Hunan and Ethiopia.

 

Hunan Provincial People’s Government Secretary General Wang Qun, and heads of relevant departments of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government also attended.

 

 

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe Leads a Delegation to Visit Uganda

During his stay in Uganda, Xu Dazhe, Hunan governor and Ruhakana Rugunda, prime minister of Uganda attend the Hunan-Uganda Cooperation Bilateral Meeting.

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe led a delegation to visit Uganda between June 21 and 22, 2018. He met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda respectively. Governor Xu and Prime Minister Rugunda attended a number of exchange activities including Hunan-Uganda Cooperation Bilateral Meeting and Investment and Trade Promotion Conference. They also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Economic and Trade Cooperation between the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of Uganda.

Xu Dazhe said, “Hunan and Uganda share long-lasting friendship, and we come for cooperation and partnership. We will implement the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and the innovation-oriented opening up strategy, to promote wider, deeper, and higher levels of opening up. We will make Hunan an open highland in inland China, and work hard to seize essential factors and decisive opportunities to gain advantages.” He continued, “Both sides bear sound foundation for exchanges and collaboration. We hope the two sides will further promote bilateral pragmatic cooperation in the areas of agriculture, mining, tourism, and infrastructure, and improve the quality and level of economic and trade cooperation.”

Ugandan President Museveni expressed his warm welcome to guests from Chairman Mao Zedong’s hometown. He said that Uganda has a good foundation for agricultural development and rich copper resources. He expected to use Hunan's advanced agriculture, mineral smelting technology, and engineering machinery industry to improve the quality and efficiency of Uganda's related industries. Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda hoped to adopt Hunan’s technology and investment to strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, mineral development, and energy and electricity, so as to achieve win-win results.

Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the People's Republic of China Kiyonga and his counterpart Zheng Zhuqiang attended related activities. Hunan Provincial People’s Government Secretary General Wang Qun, and heads of relevant departments of the Hunan provincial people’s government and Changsha Municipal People’s Government attended the meetings.
