Governor Xu Dazhe Meets with Ethiopian Guests

On the afternoon of May 24, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe met in Changsha with a delegation head by Ethiopia Ambassador to China Berhane Gebre-Christos. Secretary General Wang Qun also attended.

Governor Xu extended a warm welcome to the guests and expressed his expectation to the upcoming visit to Africa. He said that the friendship between China and Africa has a long history, and under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative, China and Ethiopia had seen a closer cooperation. Hunan, located in central China, has the regional advantage being included in China’s “One Belt and One Zone” strategy. It has a solid indusial base, rich tourism resources and cultural deposits, and rapidly developed industries in equipment manufacturing, rail transit and food processing. At present, Hunan has vigorously carried out the innovation-oriented opening up strategy to build a modern economic system and promote high-quality development. Hunan is willing to join hands with Ethiopia to deepen cooperation in various fields for mutual benefits and win-win development. He hoped that the ambassador can serve as a bridge to advance the friendly relationship between Hunan and Oromiyaa, conduct the business promotion for the first China-Africa Trade Fair, and propel the construction of industrial parks and opening of the direct flight.

Mr. Berhane expressed his thanks for the long-term support China and Hunan have provided for Ethiopia’s economic and social development. He hoped that Governor Xu’s visit to Ethiopia will play a positive role in strengthening the communication in industry, agriculture, tourism, trade and urban construction and reaching more consensus and development achievements.
