Governor Xu Meets with Ugandan Ambassador to China

On the afternoon of May 15, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe met in Changsha with a delegation led by H.E. HON. CHRISPUS KIYONGA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to the People’s Republic of China. They came here to attend a forum on Hunan-Uganda Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange, and an Investment Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting. Secretary General Wang Qun also attended.

Governor Xu extended a warm welcome to his Ugandan guests. He said that the friendship between China and Africa, between China and Uganda has a long history and has been tested by times. The Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in Beijing, China this September. Hunan, as a central province in China, boasts solid agriculture foundation, profound cultural connotations, rich tourism resources, abundant mineral reserves, leading industries of engineering machinery, rail traffic, nonferrous metal, and food processing. Hunan is willing to give full play to its advantages and carry out practical cooperation with Uganda in agriculture, industrial parks, mining, power, and tourism; facilitate Uganda’s industrialization and modernization and achieve its sustainable development. We hope to jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative and turn China and Africa into a community with a shared future. It is hoped that Mr. Ambassador will play his role as a bridge and link, to promote the both sides to build a comprehensive, multi-level and wide-range cooperation relation, help set a model for the development of economic and trade relations between the African countries and the provinces of China.

Ambassador H.E. HON. CHRISPUS KIYONGA happily recalled the moment when both sides reached a consensus on cooperation. He said that the Uganda government attaches great importance to the cooperation with Hunan, and hopes to promote cooperation in agriculture, mining, energy and tourism through official visits, non-governmental exchanges and economic and trade exchanges. He extended his warm welcome to Hunan enterprises to invest in Uganda and wished both sides to achieve mutual benefits and development. He said he is looking forward to Governor Xu’s visit to Uganda in the near future.
