On April 20, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao, and CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe met in Changsha with Huang Shuxian, CPC Leadership Group secretary and minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA). Vice Governor Sui Zhongcheng attended.

Secretary Du thanked MCA for its support for Hunan in poverty alleviation, social assistance, and subsistence allowances in recent years. He said, “the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province have attached great importance to civil affairs. We have resolutely implemented the decisions and arrangements made by the Central Government, and given priority to the people’s livelihood. We also identified and rectified the recipients of rural subsistence allowances and basic living fund, to better benefit the general public.” He expected MCA to provide more valuable advice and suggestions and continue supporting Hunan in such areas as poverty alleviation, social assistance, people's livelihood, and welfare protection.

Minister Huang remarked that Hunan has made great influences with its own characteristics in civil affairs recently. It has played a demonstrative role in disaster relief and assistance, guiding the social forces to participate in poverty alleviation, and strengthening grassroots civil administration capacity building. “MCA will, as always, support the reform, innovation and development of Hunan's civil affairs work in the future.” he added.

Minister Huang and his entourage also went to Anren County of Chezhou City and Chaling County of Zhuzhou City during their stay in Hunan, to study poverty alleviation and basic civil affairs work in the Luoxiao Mountain Area.
