Secretary Du Meets with Flex CEO

On April 17, the Flex Changsha Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park project worth 5 billion CNY launched at the National Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone. Flex Ltd. is an American multinational technological manufacturer. Before the launching ceremony, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao met with Flex CEO Mike McNamara.

Flex COO Francois Barbier, and Hunan provincial leaders Hu Henghua, Xie Jianhui, and Chen Wenhao joined the meeting or attended the ceremony.

Secretary Du Jiahao welcomed the guests to visit Hunan again. He said that the project is of vast potential for future development, and will strongly promote Hunan's electronic information manufacturing industry to expand industrial chain, improve supply chain, enhance value chain, and release the clustering effect as soon as possible. Du added, “Hunan will take the ‘Year of Industrial Projects Construction' as an opportunity to provide a high quality and efficient business environment, and a fair and just legal environment for investors at home and abroad, so as to achieve mutual benefits and common development.”

Mike McNamara thanked relevant departments at all levels in Hunan for their strong support for promoting project progress. He promised to build the Changsha production base into Flex’s latest model. The most advanced intelligent manufacturing technology will be introduced to take the lead in developing industry 4.0 and push Hunan's intelligent manufacturing to a new level.

According to the project plan, Flex will work together with Huawei to create a production base that will focus on mobile smart terminals; smart terminal power supplies; and, networking and consumer electronics. The project is expected to be officially put into operation in September next year, with an estimated annual output value of 10 billion CNY. It will create more than 10,000 jobs, and attract a large number of enterprises specializing in upstream electronic parts and components and midstream electronic module to gather in Changsha, to speed up the development of electronic information manufacturing industrial cluster.
