The Economic Work Conference of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee was held in Changsha on December 22 and 23, 2017. The Conference highlighted that Hunan will hold high the great banner of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the Central Economic Work Conference. It summed up the economic work for 2017, and mapped out the economic work priorities for 2018.
CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao, and Deputy Secretary and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe, made speeches at the meeting. CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee Chairwoman Li Weiwei was present.
To do a good job in economic work next year, we should fully implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a guideline, and strengthen the CPC’s leadership over economic work.
We should adhere to the basic tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, stick to the new development ideas, focus on the “principal contradiction” between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life, and be in line with high-quality development requirements.
We should promote all-round economic, political, cultural, social, and ecological progress, and implement the strategy of four comprehensives (a strategic blueprint proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping to build a moderately prosperous society, deepen reform, govern the nation according to law, and strictly govern the Party on a deeply comprehensive level).
Efforts should be made to promote supply-side reform, further implement the innovation-driven opening up development strategy, and practice ‘three focuses’ on supply-side reform, people’s livelihood improvement, and agricultural modernization.
Priorities should be given to accelerating industrial development, transformation, and upgrading; and, making overall plans for maintaining steady growth, promoting reform, making structural adjustments, improving the people's livelihood, and guarding against risks. Progress should be made in major risk prevention and mitigation, targeted poverty alleviation, and pollution treatment and control, so as to promote the sustained and healthy economic and social development.
