Hunan, Hong Kong Enhance Communication and Cooperation

A delegation of the Hunan Fraternal Association of Hong Kong (HNFA) and the Hong Kong-Hunan Youth Exchange Delegation visited Hunan between August 12 and 14, 2017. It was led by Hong Kong Central People’s Government S.A.R. Liaison Office (LOCPG) Director Zhang Xiaoming and HNFA President Zhou Qunfei. CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe, and CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee Chairwoman Li Weiwei held symposiums with the guests. Other provincial leaders including Chen Xiangqun, Huang Lanxiang, Xie Jianhui, and Yuan Xinhua also attended or accompanied the tour.

Secretary Du, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, thanked LOCPG for its support of Hunan’s economic and social development and welcomed the guests. He said, "Hong Kong is an important window for Hunan’s opening-up strategy and the most important source for utilizing foreign capital." He added, "Many Hunan Hong Kongese have made great contributions in promoting Hunan, attracting investment, and creating friendship." He expected LOCPG to continue to support Hunan and assist further and there would be higher levels of cooperation between Hunan and Hong Kong. He promised Hunan will improve the business environment to welcome more entrepreneurs to invest here.

Director Zhang remarked, "Hong Kong and Hunan share complementary advantages in the 'Belt and Road' initiative. We will continue to play our role in deepening exchange and collaboration between the two places. We will support Hunan in making full use of Hong Kong's advanced financial and other modern services sectors to speed up the 'Go Global' strategy, and achieve mutual benefits and common development." He added.

The delegation also visited Changsha, Shaoshan, and Yueyang during their stay in Hunan.
