Hunan, BAIC Group to Promote Collaboration in Auto Industry

The Hunan Government and Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC Group), on March 15, 2017, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing, to jointly promote Hunan’s automobile industry and accelerate the process of making Hunan a strong manufacturer.

Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Du Jiahao, Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe, BAIC Group Chairman Xu Heyi attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.

Vice Governor Zhang Jianfei, BAIC Group General Manager Zhang Xiyong signed the agreement on behalf of either side.

Secretary Du thanked BAIC Group for its contribution to Hunan’s economic and social development, especially the development of automobile industry. He said, “We will view the agreement as an opportunity to boost bilateral cooperation in such fields as new energy vehicle battery, environmental equipment manufacturing, general aviation, government car reform, to achieve mutual benefit and common development.”

Governor Xu said that Hunan would provide favorable policies, environment and service for the Group’s expansion in Hunan.

BAIC Group Chairman Xu Heyi said, “This year the Group will focus on two projects in Hunan—BAIC Foton Changsha environmental equipment industrial park and Zhuzhou new energy vehicle battery. It will carry out new energy vehicle leasing business, and participate in Hunan’s government car reform.” He hoped that the Group would get strong support from the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, to achieve win-win cooperation.

Zhang Xiyong said, “BAIC Group will further increase its investment in Hunan during the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-202)”. Its output value will have achieved 66 billion yuan by 2020, with tax revenue of 4 billion yuan.
