The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Hunan Technology Transfer Center opened its Changsha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base on November 12, 2017.

Hunan Provincial Science & Technology Department Deputy Director-general Lu Xianhua, and Changsha National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee Director Tan Yong, were present at the unveiling ceremony.

CAS Wuhan Branch Assistant President Li Wei addressed the ceremony. The CAS Wuhan Branch will further advance sci-tech cooperation with Hunan, Li said. The two parties will collaborate in developing key cooperative projects, enhancing emerging industries, and establishing major platforms, so as to facilitate Hunan’s economic and social development.

The Base was initiated by the CAS Hunan Technology Transfer Center and the Changsha Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in September 2016. It focuses on intelligent manufacturing, biological medicine, and energy-saving and environmental protection, and adopts a “chief experts + teams + achievements + companies” mode. It aims to assimilate CAS technological innovation resources, and introduce advanced research achievements for industrial production, and talents to join the Base.

Currently it collaborates with six CAS innovation teams and establishes R&D platforms in five fields; namely, robot vision industry, special computer and peripheral equipment, animal health management technology, environmental improvement service, and energy saving and environmental protection industrial service. It has incubated seven enterprises, with the total registered capital of 145 million yuan, and has introduced four innovative companies.

The CAS Hunan Technology Transfer Center was founded by the Hunan Provincial People’s Government and the CAS in 2009. Their cooperation include advanced manufacturing, ecological agriculture, environment, biological medicine, new energy and new materials, and electronic information. During the 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015), 131 research achievements were put into industrial use in Hunan, producing an output value of more than 40 billion yuan, and taxation of 3.5 billion yuan.
