The Bureau of Commerce and Grain of Yueyang announced that from January to May this year, the city’s open economy maintained steady and rapid growth. Total foreign trade value hit 1.31 billion USD, an increase of 150.3% year-on-year. The city’s total foreign trade value and growth rate ranked 4th and 1st in Hunan respectively.

This year, Yueyang City has vigorously undertaken East China’s industries transfer, given priority to the introduction of a number of competitive export-oriented enterprises, and intensified policy support to promote import and export performances made by urban and provincial parks, foreign trade enterprises, and domestic trade enterprises that intend to expand international market. The moves help consolidate Yueyang’s foreign trade foundation.

Yueyang further optimizes its import and export trade structure. Its total imports was 600 million USD, accounting for 45.8% of the total. Foreign investment, foreign contracted projects and foreign labor service continued to rise, and a number of enterprises with high-quality products and high technologies have been encouraged to promote its labor, technology, capital, and projects to “go global”. Priorities have been given to such projects as Hunan Huawen Food Co., Ltd.’s raw material processing base project in Kenya, Hunan Dahuangya Trade Co., Ltd.’s and Hunan Sanxili Trade Co., Ltd.’s special food processing base projects in Indonesia and Cambodia.
