The Changsha Customs announced that, between January and November 2017, Hunan’s imports and exports to France totaled 1.53 billion CNY, increasing by 45.5% over the same period last year. Among them, the export was 1.22 billion CNY, up by 59.5% year on year; and the import 310 million CNY, a year-on-year growth of 8.3%.

Machinery and electronic products were the main export commodities on the Hunan-France foreign trade list, followed by the textiles and apparel, and cultural products. The main imports were also machinery and electronic products while big increase was seen in agricultural products export. The imported agricultural products increased by 58.1% to over 64 million CNY between January and November 2017.

Hunan and France have close ties in various fields since the establishment of friendly relations between the French Central Region and Hunan Province in 1991. The Zopoise Technology (Zhuzhou) Co., Ltd. has vigorously expanded the French market and exported 150 million CNY of lighting products in the first eleven months in 2017. On November 2, 2017, the Pilote Group of France and the Hunan Leopaard Motors Co. Ltd. held a signing ceremony to set up a joint venture named “Hunan RV Pilote Co., Ltd.” Settled in Changsha, it was estimated to produce and sell 500 sets of vehicles in 2018 and reach an annual production and sales volume of over 3,000 in 2020.

Changsha Customs believed that French President Emmanuel Macron's first visit to China on January 8, 2018 would surely promote pragmatic cooperation between China and France to a higher level, and Hunan's economic and trade partnership with France was also expected to be enhanced.
