The Hunan Gold Development Forum was held in Changsha on August 16, 2017. Heads of gold enterprises, experts and scholars from inside and outside Hunan attended, and discussed plans to develop gold industry.

The gold industry is one of Hunan’s priority industries. It is going to be a pillar industry in Hunan during the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020). Now Hunan has 60 gold mines above the designated size and one large gold melting enterprise. The gold industry has maintained stable development, with gold production growing rapidly. In 2020, the provincial gold production is expected to be 192 tons; the revenue 61 billion yuan.

Hunan Gold Group and Hunan Gold Corporation Limited President Huang Qifu introduced the Group overall development plan during 2016-2020: two goals of annual average growth in gold production, output value, and profits (no less than 15%) and annual average net growth in ensured reserves (no less than 10%); establishing industrial platforms for precious metals and non-ferrous metals; and setting up four centers for capital operation, trading, transection, and innovation.

Central South University Prof. Wu Jinming suggested promoting gold industry internationally. He noted that Asian countries along the “Belt and Road” route would be gold demanders. The world’s central banks have become net buyers of gold as safe-haven demand for gold increases. This will provide a great opportunity for China to develop gold industry. “If we make full use of that chance, Hunan will make substantial progress in gold industry.” Wu added.
