Hunan Foreign Trade Starts Strong

Changsha Customs on Mar. 13, 2017 announced that Hunan provincial total import and export value was 25.02 billion yuan in the first two months of this year. This is an increase of 44.6% over the same period as last year. It is 24% higher than the national foreign trade growth rate for the same period.
 

The Hunan's processing trade grew. Its total import and export value was 7.59 billion yuan for the first two months—a 52.9% increase over last year. General trade was 41% higher than last year.

 

Hunan and major trading partners bilateral trade rose in various sectors. The greatest increase in imports and exports were with Australia and Hong Kong, up 93.7% and 78.2%. Bilateral trade between the EU and ASEAN countries has maintained a growth rate of 15%.

 

Mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products continued to take the lead in the province's foreign trade. From January to February, electromechanical products exports increased by 50.7%, accounting for 46.1% of the total export value of the province. Import growth was 77.9%, making up 39.9% of the province's total imports over the same period. High-tech products export increased by 95%, and accounted for 16.1% of the total provincial export value. This high-tech products import growth was 3%, accounting for 17.4% of all provincial imports for the same period.
