2018 Changsha Media Arts Festival Opens

The 2018 Changsha Media Arts Festival and the International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road both opened on the evening of May 21. At the opening ceremony UNESCO presented Changsha with the “City of Media Arts” award. Changsha, along with the four prior winning cities of Enghien-les-Bains, France; York, UK; Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel; and Austin, Texas, US formed the “World Media Arts Alliance”.

 

The attendees included UNESCO and China Office, Enghien-les-Bains, Austin, York, and Tel Aviv-Yafo officials, and 70 youth delegates from 51 of the “Belt and Road” countries.

Participants will attend activities which explore Changsha’s charm as the City of Media Arts, and its latest developments in culture and the creative arts. These activities will serve as a bridge to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning. They include:
the International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road;
Media art night—fireworks show;
the Chinese and foreign youth gathering;
the Intangible Cultural Heritage Art & Media Arts Photography Exhibition;
Changsha field visits;
the Orange Isle Music Festival; and,
the ‘Experience Changsha Media Arts Program’.

UNESCO, the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations, the China National Commission for UNESCO, and the Changsha Municipal People's Government planned the event, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Broadcast & Television Group organized it.  

 

Changsha, along with four prior winners of Enghien-les-Bains, York, Tel Aviv-Yafo, and Austin establish the “World Media Arts Alliance”.

At the opening ceremony, formation of the China (Malanshan) Media Arts Forum is announced.
