The unveiling ceremony of the “Xiangjiang Pavilion”, a replica of the famed Aiwan Pavilion, was held in Changsha on May 3, 2018. It is a gift sending by the Changsha Yanghu Wetland Park to the St. Paul Phalen Regional Park, Minnesota State. The gift exchange marks the 30th anniversary of the St. Paul and Changsha sister-city relationship. The pavilion will be permanently placed in the St. Paul-Changsha China Friendship Garden.

Earlier this March, St. Paul sent five statues of PEANUTS characters to the Yanghu Wetland Park. The Peanuts cartoons were the work of St. Paul native Charles Schulz. The statues were placed in Yanghu Wetland Park in Changsha, the sister park to St. Paul’s Phalen Regional.

The sister-city project between Saint Paul and Changsha in Hunan Province is a relationship that began in May 1988, while a sister-city park bond was made between Phalen Regional Park and Yanghu Wetlands Park in Changsha since 2015.
