16th Chinese Bridge Competition Concludes

The final of the 16th "Chinese Bridge" — Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Student was held in Changsha on August 12, 2017, which marked the end of the one-month-long competition.

Former Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Xu Jialu; CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao; and, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe watched the event and presented awards to winners.

Secretary of the Party Committee (Director General Level) of Hanban and Deputy Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters Ma Jianfei, provincial leaders Cai Zhenhong, Hu Henghua, Xie Jianhui, Li Youzhi, Xiang Lili, Ouyang Bin, and diplomatic envoys from Australia, Benin, Sudan, Peru, and Malaysia attended.

Three competition sections were set up, including the speech contest to share Chinese story, the ancient silk road-themed knowledge contest, and the championship round. Finally, MOHAMMED ELMOIEZ (Chinese name: Zhao Zhixing) from Sudan claimed the champion title. ANNE-AELIS MYRIAM (Chinese name: Liu Siyuan) from Australia won the Best Performance Award, BIN MUHAMAD SHAHMEER (Chinese name: Sha Mier) from Malaysia the Most Eloquent Award, and BERNHARD (Chinese name: He Bende) from Germany the Most Popular Award.
