There are 13 counties, county-level cities, and districts in Hunan successfully approved as the national agricultural product quality and safety counties, according to the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on November 6, 2019.

On November 2, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs conferred nameplates to the second batch of national agricultural product quality and safety counties. Nine Hunan counties, county-level cities, and districts were included. They are: Dingcheng District, Anhua County, Qidong County, Longhui County, Taoyuan County, Heshan District, Zixing City, Daoxian County, and Xinhua County. The first batch of counties approved in 2016 are Liuyang City, Changning City, Dong'an County, and Junshan District.

Hunan has adopted the “one establishment standard, one set of assessment indicators" approach to strengthen the agricultural products quality and safety supervision, traceability, standardization, inspection and testing, and credit system construction. This will ensure agricultural products quality and safety at the source, and actively set up the national and provincial agricultural product quality and safety counties. Forty-one counties, county-level cities, and districts are building themselves into provincial-level agricultural product quality and safety counties.
