Two Xiangtan University Students Won the 5th New World Mathematics Award

On June 9, the 8th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) was held in Tsinghua University. The 5th New World Mathematics Award was given at the congress. The Bachelor’s Degree dissertations of He Yiqin and Cao Huabin, two undergraduate students of the School of Mathematics and Computational Science of Xiangtan University, were awarded the Silver Prize and the Winning Prize respectively. These are the first of its kind awarded to university students in Hunan.
 
New World Mathematics Award was founded in 2007 and it’s oriented to global Chinese students. It’s given every three years. The Award aims to stimulate global Chinese students to pursue the truth in mathematics, and to provide recognition for young talents’ achievements in mathematics. This year, there were two Golden Prizes, three Silver Prizes, and one Winning Prize in the undergraduate student team.
