On November 6, Hunan Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "Hunan Charging Alliance") was established. According to its plan, electric vehicle charging infrastructure will be widely constructed across the province by the end of 2020. Approximately 180,000 EV charging piles will be set up. A unified charging facilities operation and service platform will be built to have all the EV charging infrastructure interconnected.
“Currently, there are less than 20 thousand EV charging piles in the province,” said the general manager of the State Grid (Hunan) Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. There are such defects in EV infrastructure as insufficient scale, unreasonable layout, and poor interconnection. Therefore the needs of charging can’t be fully met. The Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Special Planning in Hunan(2016-2020)states that the estimated amount of EV will reach 220,000 in the province by 2020.
The Hunan Charging Alliance was established to support EV development, break down barriers, facilitate the interconnection of charging facilities and cross-domain coordination, and promote EV in all cities in Hunan. The alliance was led by the Hunan Energy Bureau, and the State Grid (Hunan) Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. It is a cooperative non-profit social organization initiated by the EV related enterprises, including charging piles, batteries, energy storage, and port shore power producers.
